- Our opinion,
based on our guests' reviews of Sugar Beach: We have placed happy
guests at this property for over 15 years, and to
this day it offers the best value for being really "beachfront" on
Maui, if you just need a 1-bedroom. Note: there are
some online reviews that warn of "midges" and "bad
smell". This problem existed for a very brief
period of a few weeks many years ago when the government
mistakenly drained the "wetland ponds" across
the street, and we never received any complaints
about it, despite having placed hundreds of guests
here over the years. The minute we would hear about
any such issues or other equally "major" ones,
we would never risk putting a guest here or at any
other property, given that we not only have a track
record and reputation to protect, but we don't ever
want unhappy guests to call us after arrival to want
to move.
